Wayne Weidemann

Wayne Weidemann (born October 21, 1966) is an Australian rules football coach and former player. He is most notable for his career in the Australian Football League with the Adelaide Crows.

Nicknamed "Weed", he was a fearsome looking character with long blond hair and a fierce star reminiscent of a Viking warrior. He had a cult following amongst Adelaide fans, and the collective cry of "Weed" could be heard whenever he went near the ball during an Adelaide home game.

Weidemann played 68 AFL games between 1991-1996 and kicked 26 goals. Before playing with the Crows in the AFL, Weidemann was a player for the Woodville-West Torrens Football Club in the SANFL. After his retirement from the AFL, he took up the position as senior coach with the West Adelaide Football Club, before being sacked from the position in 2007.^[1]

Wayne has been an assistant coach at Devonport in the Tasmanian Football league and won a William Leitch Medal while playing for them in 1998.
