Wayne County Airport Authority

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wayne County Airport Authority is a quasi-governmental entity created in 2002 by the Michigan State Legislature to operate two Detroit-area airports: Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Willow Run Airport. Prior to the Authority's founding, these two airports were operated directly by Wayne County.

The Authority is overseen by an independent Board appointed jointly by the Governor of Michigan and the Wayne County Executive. Accordingly, as of 2002, the airports are no longer operated by Wayne County.

The current CEO of the Airport Authority is Lester W. Robinson.

The Airport Authority is headquartered in the L.C. Smith Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport.
