When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

[edit] People lists
Sorry I didn't respond earlier. Normally on wikipedia we link anything that could potentially have its own article. That can be tough to judge, but if there's list of poets who have published works, I'd leave the red links there so that editors are able to easily create articles on them. Does that answer your question? —Spangineer[es] (háblame) 02:40, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] List of poets
Hi, There are no clear guidelines on dead link cleanup, but personally I'd be inclined to remove these entries completely. If and when articles are created, they can be reinserted. I don't see much advantage in just unlinking them. Dlyons493 Talk 18:38, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
WayneRay 00:17, 2 April 2006 (UTC)WayneRay I absolutely agree but the fellow in the comment below does not.
- Hi, I think that categories are generally more useful than lists. The two arguments for lists are that annotations can be added and that red links may encourage article creation. When the list doesn't have annotations that's the first raison d'etre gone. But if it's a long-standing and maintained list and the poet is clearly notable enough to warrant an article, then maybe it's best to leave the red link rather than deleting it. I wouldn't just unlink it. Dlyons493 Talk 14:47, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: List of Afrikaans language poets
I am very tempted to revert your changes to above article; there is absolutely nothing wrong with redlinks -- in fact, they act as an invitation for other to start articles. Also, what happens when the article gets written in any case? Now someone has to go back to the article to relink them. Unless you have a good reason to unlink those names, I will probably revert it. dewet|™ 18:44, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
WayneRay 00:17, 2 April 2006 (UTC)WayneRay I have reverted the dead links back to showing BUT I feel that is there is no article there should be no link. Also there are no dateswith the poets, it also tells me that anyone can make up a name if there is a dead link.
- Thanks; I don't actually like the countless "list of ..." articles in any case, since as you rightly state, misinformation can easily be introduced there. The fact is that they *are* being used, but generally the community drives it. I've taken a cursory look through the Afrikaans poets, and I believe all of them to be kosher. dewet|™ 07:23, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] List of poets again
Hi, I suggest you delete the red links totally if you dislike them - just unlinking results in the worst of all possible worlds. Dlyons493 Talk
[edit] Your edit summary
I'm confused by your edit summary for your recent change to VanDusen Botanical Garden. You wrote major additional information Copyright article by Wayne Ray 1991 WayneRay 22:17, 18 April 2006 (UTC)WayneRay. What does that mean, exactly? — Saxifrage ✎ 06:18, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, okay. I was confused by the bit about copyrights in the edit summary. Just to be sure, you do realise that you don't hold copyright anymore to anything that you add to Wikipedia, right? At least, you don't hold it anymore in the traditional sense: by submitting a change to an article, editors are agreeing to license that contribution under the GFDL. — Saxifrage ✎ 20:20, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- That makes sense. As a suggestion, you might consider putting a longer and more informative note on the Talk pages of the articles instead, and just saying "see note in Talk". I know there's limited room in the edit summary and that makes it harder to be clear. Thanks again for the additions! — Saxifrage ✎ 21:23, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Autobiography
Though there is a resentment in Wikipedia about writing autobiographical articles, I feel it is perfectly okay AS LONG AS you keep it absolutely neutral and source your statements (see WP:V). When writing articles on whose subject you have a direct interest, objectivity should be emphasised more than ever. I hope you continue to be a valuable wikipedia contributor. You certainly are free to use the CanCon graphic I created. I quite like it; it would be a shame if it were just to rot away, unused. JTBurman 06:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Irving Layton
Hi WayneRay, I see you've done some work on Canadian poets. Would you mind taking a look at Irving Layton? I'm going back-and-forth with an anonymous contributor over whether information about a poet inspired by Layton should be included. It would help to have another person's opinion, especially one who is familiar with Canadian poetry. Thanks, FreplySpang (talk) 20:34, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, Wayne. Cheers! FreplySpang (talk) 21:33, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Western Fair Museum and Archives
Adam and Wayne, the Western Fair Museum and Archives no longer exists and the building sits empty after the Western Fair Board decided to discontinue its operation. Artifacts and archives have either been put into storage, returned to original owners who donated them or sent up to the University of Western Ontario. Inge Sanmiya now teaches a few courses at UWO. The Wikipedia story needs to be adjusted accordingly. P.S. My information comes from London photo-historian Stephen Harding who I spoke with last evening. Barry Wells 23:17, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- Good to hear from you Wayne. I'm no longer with SCENE, as of November 12, 2004. Today, the mag runs so-called cutting-edge news stories such as "How to bake a cake" or "Where to get a cup of coffee." It's truly pitiful. Barry Wells 20:58, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Mintor Gardens
Hi WayneRay. I came across the Mintor Gardens article and thought I'd point out a few observations I made. First of all, I think the article's wording reads a bit more a like a brochure than encyclopedia article. I would try to fix it myself, but I don't know anything about the subject. I considered a POV tag, but that would just attract a league of outside wiki editors who might disrupt the integrity of the article's information. Since you seem to be the article's caretaker, I thought I'd instead just bring it to your attention. Also, I noticed that the article is entitled "Mintor Gardens" but the text of the article refers to it as "Minter Gardens" (notice the spelling discrepancy). Finally, I believe for an article that is small with only one paragraph, a subheading like the one that says "British Columbia" isn't necessary. Like I said, I am unfamiliar with the subject so instead of making changes, I'm just bringing it to your attention to handle as you see fit. Soltras 17:01, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cotton
I noticed your change to cotton. Please not that you can use {{Commons}} to create a link to an article on Commons. Similar templates exist to create links to other projects. Rmhermen 00:56, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- You added a link to commons as an external link: [http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Cotton Wikimedia Cotton]. If you add the template above you get a nice box like this:
Rmhermen 17:16, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Links to commons
Why are inserting links to commons when there isn't any corresponding article? Please stop this. Most of your recent contributions like [1] may be considered as vandalism because they lack nearly any sense. --jergen 08:59, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- I have the feeling that you don't understand how the template {{commons}} works. If you are using it in this simple way it links to {{PAGENAME}} on commons. Used on this page, it would link to an non-existent article "WayneRay" on commons.
- Second, there is no sense in linking to non-specific Scouting content. If you link to commons, it should be a specific page on the same topic.
- Third: Please answer here. I'm only answering on the page the discussion started. As long we are in a discussion this page is on my watchlist. --jergen 17:53, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] commons link

[edit] NL Communities
Hi Wayne; It's great to see a fellow countryman adding articles to Wikipedia, EXCELLENT! Please add communities as you know of them, the list is just it a list. I developed the list mainly as a capture of all the communities that once existed, some have survived into what they are today; others have been re-settled or just died. But each of the communities should have an article written about them. It would be an excellent research tool for history buffs. When an article does get created then it will be assigned a category. Is that the duplicate list you speak of? HJKeats 21:06, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Didn't realize that so many communities existed in NL, keep up the good work. I have noticed that you have been applying the Category for Cities of Newfoundland and Labrador. According to provincial standards and regulations there are only three cities, St. John's, Corner Brook and Mount Pearl. On a different note, we should consider collaborating with other contributors of similar NL interests on projects or articles. HJKeats 19:04, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Newfoundland and Labrador articles
When you create new articles about places in Newfoundland and Labrador, it would be create if you put a {{Newfoundland-geo-stub}} stub at the end of the articles that are short. Not a big deal, but helpful to other editors. Thanks. --MZMcBride 03:19, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] NFLD communities
I don't know what you've done here. Where do I actually find the T NFLD Communities? You've made an article and you haven't included any of the communities in that article. You've also pasted the A communities into the T section on the main List of communities in Newfoundland and Labrador page. It has to go back because all the T communities are lost now. We can do what you're suggesting, but this is probably not the way to go about it.
That said, I'm looking to start a Newfoundland and Labrador WikiProject. It would allow us to collaborate on NL-related articles. Would you be in? OzLawyer 16:11, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- You had pasted the As into the T section, so I fixed that. I'm wondering if what you're doing is all that useful. You obviously have some old source of information you're adding for communities, a large number of them may not even exist any more. Certainly putting the population numbers for 1951 and 1956 is a little useless. Perhaps we could go slower, picking all the communities which are clearly extant, and dealing with those. Then, when we get an article for every existing community in NL (which will be a long way off), we can start work on communities which may not exist any longer.
- Since the vast majority of communities in NL are not even towns, but settlements in unorganized census divisions, perhaps we could get the census divisions done first and list the communities that exist in each of those census divisions. OzLawyer 16:28, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- I have removed the consolidation I was working on and the populations were to show the slow decline of the communities over the years. I don't bellieve in Dead Red Links so I will keep adding short articles if I have the information but will edit as per your request as well WayneRay 22:59, 9 June 2006 (UTC)WayneRay
-
- I have uploaded a few pictures, but I have done them in Wikipedia... I must be doing it wrong. The method I have been using is by selecting 'Upload file' in the toolbox on the left. HJKeats 19:55, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
-
- Try doing it in Wikimedia, I just uploaded pics to Lineville, Alabama and Ashland, Alabama and put a few in Wikipedia, these are my home towns as well as Stephenville. WayneRay 23:28, 10 June 2006 (UTC)WayneRay
[edit] Wiki-Media Categories
I don't even know why we have that section on the page, but since you said only that one category was a WikiMedia category, I removed all but that one. OzLawyer 23:15, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
-
- I was trying to get across that the categories for photos should be matched (eventually) on Media and that no photos should be uploaded on wikipedia but on wikimedia. My mouth sometimes stumbles as my brain is thinking LOL. Mayne there is a better way to tell all necomers to onlyupload on Media and all the other photos should be uploaded there as weel. When they are, the categories I had should just fill with the photos automatecally. WayneRay 23:27, 9 June 2006 (UTC)WayneRay

[edit] Other people's comments and vanity
Please don't remove other people's comments as you did here. In addition, I would again strongly suggest that you avoid direct editing of all pages related to yourself in any way and allow uninterested third parties to manage them. In particular, Wikipedia Commons is not a self-publishing venue, and you'd be well-advised to refrain from uploading any more of your works to it. — Saxifrage ✎ 22:39, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

It was just sucha stupid comment, I didn't realize it should all stay on my own user chat. i will delete the photos, I looked at some of the other photographers and their works were up. And the link I made I will delete, WayneRay 23:14, 19 June 2006 (UTC)WayneRay
- If it had been on your own user Talk page it wouldn't really have been an issue, but it was actually on the Talk page of an article of the encyclopedia which only happens to be about you. — Saxifrage ✎ 23:58, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
-
- ahhhhhhh I C !! that makes sense I didnt really look to see where it was . I wasnt trying to be vanity about the photographs, I have had a half dozen shows in the past 4 or 5 years and some of the collages I make actually sell. There was not very much in the Canadian Photographers category so I just added mine, What then do you think should be in an individuals article in wikimedia as there is usually never any amount of text. WayneRay 14:08, 20 June 2006 (UTC)WayneRay
-
-
- It's not a question of whether there should be photographs there or not, it's that you, being the subject of the article itself, are in a conflict of interest. As a question of ethics, you ought either refrain from editing and adding material about yourself entirely, or to keep your edits to a bare minimum that is above reproach. — Saxifrage ✎ 22:01, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

- One of the other visitors to the userTalk suggested two categories within the photography section being the Collages and Photo Poems, so if I see what you mean then putting my appropriate photos in those categories or articles is different than putting them under my name.? - Reading that, he does make a good point that you've been accepted as notable, and uploading to commons (given the licensing issues) is more sacrifice than gain, true. So, I'll retract that part. Still, keep in mind that a light touch on the article here is good, or better yet, just provide information on the Talk page of the article so that independent editors can judge and integrate it independently.

I'm afraid you going to be a little bit more specific before I can help you. Have you been blocked? Or did you receive a message on your talk page from me? AmiDaniel (talk) 21:27, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

- It said I was blocked from editig with no explination as to what I had done. It wasn't on y talk page it just appeared as I logged on and I haven't seen the notice since then. - Thanks but again you and others fail to see the big picture, there is a Wiki Project that about 9 of us are working on. I agree with you however about incomplete articles but this is different,
Wikipedia:WikiProject Newfoundland and Labrador & the one you found my photo on: List of communities in Newfoundland and Labrador are being worked on piece by piece, some are supplying articles , some are supplying and working on links, I am working on photos, and others are doing what they can with support etc. I have completed the A, T, U and most of the B Lists with , for right now, small amounts of information OR A PHOTO, to get things going. [edit] Your Question
I don't think editors here are in love with duplicate information. If the information is essential to the Air Force Base article, I guess it'll have to stay there. If it isn't, however, then it should probably come out. If one could consider the information a sub-topic, you would usually put a summary of the important information in the article and use:
- or
- See also: Long Gull Pond
at the top of the section to point to the full story. I'm not really sure what to suggest—it all depends on how important you think the information is to the Air Force Base article. OzLawyer 14:28, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Collaboration for Wikipedia:WikiProject Newfoundland and Labrador
A new article SS Florizel of Newfoundland and Labrador context has been created and we invite you to contribute to the article to firstly get it up to DYK status and hopefully to feature article status. The article is about a bit of Newfoundland's marine history and the sinking of the SS Florizel and it’s many passengers including a little girl Betty Munn. If you have any knowledge of the subject please pitch in add/edit and if not specific knowledge of the article if you could help by generating articles on any of the red-ink (wikified) topics, would be great. Thanks so much to help on this article. As a suggestion, maybe every Monday we could offer up a new topic to collaborate on and then pool our talents on that one. Oh and BTW did you catch the article that OzLawyer create on the Newfoundland Tricolour that made it to the Did you know? column on 5 July 2006.! HJKeats 23:21, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

- sorry I don't usually look there but I was wrong so I will delete it. I saw a few things I thought were different and didn't want to be plagiarizing. I will go work on something else then, apologies for my error. WayneRay 16:10, 6 July 2006 (UTC)WayneRay
[edit] List of communities in Newfoundland and Labrador
You said the census towns were bolded, but there seems to be many which are not. I've fixed A, B, C, and P so far. If you go to this page you can see the census towns. OzLawyer 15:04, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've done D-H as well now. When I find a town that should be hyphenated but which you have down as just the first part of the name, I've fixed that too. I also pasted the "Bays List" into the main page, as there's not really that many. I also suggest that when there are two places with the same name, instead of using a comma and the region name after, you put the region name in brackets. So for the two Charlottetowns, it should be Charlottetown (Labrador), Newfoundland and Labrador and Charlottetown (Newfoundland), Newfoundland and Labrador. OzLawyer 15:24, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Auburn, Alabama
Wayne, although the Samford Hall image is my photo, the article on Auburn, Alabama is not mine and I don't recall making any edits there, although I've written and edited extensively on Auburn University. I don't have any specific knowledge of Drake Samford, but know the Samford name is prominent on campus and around the city. In addition to Samford Hall on campus, there is a also a Samford Avenue and a Duck Samford park which includes the football stadium in which Auburn High School plays its games.
You might consider contacting Special Collections and Archives[2] at Auburn University's Library. They, of course, maintain documents related to the history of the University and may have information on the Samfords. AUTiger ʃ talk/work 18:28, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Genealogies
I found Talk:Eloise Lindauer I rather confusing to read. I had to think twice: what does he mean by wikimedia (we usually call it the Commons). What entire group of articles? How do we guess what the other titles are? Checking your contributions don't help: commons:Anna Augusta Kershaw does not appear to have come over here. Eloise Lindauer I don't appear to existed on the Commons.
It is well established: a) Wikipedia is not for genealogies and b) being related to a notable does not confer notability. And to avoid the deletionists, the articles Eloise Lindauer I and Sophia Weber needed to state what little claim these women had to notability within the first sentence.
I don't see any motions to delete on the Commons so I suggest you re-instate the articles for the females there (the males probably are notable enough to stay here - very sexist - but it is Victorian sexism coming through). In any case what does user:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) think? -- RHaworth 01:36, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Hello again, i hadnt yet gotten to doing all the links necessry but I do see your point and the old "victorian sexism" so I will put everything back in the Commons and you can delete the female articles if you like. I thought I was helping cleaning up but guess not, I will go bacik to my regular projects on wikimedia er Commons WayneRay 02:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)WayneRay

[edit] Celebration: Famous Canadian Poets CD
I note you've recently added Celebration: Famous Canadian Poets CD to the bibliographies of a number of Canadian poets. I've not seen a copy, but the title causes me to think it is a compact disc. Am I correct? If so, would it not be more appropriate to list it as part of a discography? I'm also wondering whether Celebration: Famous Canadian Poets CD isn't a compilation of works by a number of poets - if so, I think it should be stated, lest someone think that the CD is devoted to the subject in question. To do otherwise, I think, would be similar to placing, say, Smith's Oxford Book of Canadian Verse in a bibliography of Charles Mair. Again, I've not seen a copy of Celebration: Famous Canadian Poets CD, so am writing in the dark.Victoriagirl 17:23, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

- Hello again, I had thought I had put the note of the CD in all the poets I had the Rights to republish, I was just catching up on stuff. In 1979 the CBC produced a series of 30 minute audio tapes of 8 Canadian Poets, When I was at the University of Toronto and became acquaintance/friends with several of the poets in question, one of them mentioned the Tapes and I approached the OISE education at U of T, taken over by U of T Press, and bought/obtained the reproduction Rights for the Tapes for the CPA, including with the help of Gwendolyn MacEwen, the Rights for Milton Acorn's More Poems for People just after he died. In or about the year 2001 I had the tapes Mastered and put on CD. There are two famous poets per CD doing 30 minutes each of their poetry and one hour for Milton. So as sales have been slow to minimal I no longer advertize them on the Bookstore for the Canadian Poetry Association. They are still available if you want a copy. SO how should they be listed, I was going to go back and put the ISBN of each CD this weekend to update it all, Should there be a separate article or part of the CPA site, mentioning them maybe. Please let me know the proper method that is best. WayneRay 20:57, 1 September 2006 (UTC)WayneRay
- I just updated and included more information and a list on the CPA article for reference, of all the CD poets, let me know if this is ok. WayneRay 21:40, 1 September 2006 (UTC)WayneRay
- Hello Wayne, I think your recent edits clartified things. Perhaps adding the other poet's name might make things even more clear. For example, the Irving layton entry might read:
-
- Celebration: Famous Canadian Poets CD Canadian Poetry Association — 2001 ISBN 1552530299 (CD#1) (with Earle Birney)
-
- Just an idea. Though I recognize each has an ISBN, I'd also be tempted to create Discography sections and place them underneath. I did something similar on the Brian Brett article.
- Pleased to hear you've saved these recordings. Good work!Victoriagirl 21:55, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Redundant Categories
Hi Wayne; I have noticed you performing a clean-up of some of the NL community articles, some could use some TLC for sure. You have also removed category items from some of them; why would you consider them as redundant? HJKeats 22:34, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
-
- When I was working on Wikimedia Commons for the past two months,it was brought to my attention that many others including myself, were putting images in articles as well as categories. It was suggested that only the image goes in the article and the article goes in the category and categories go from there up the category tree. When I went back here, to Wikipedia, I remebered that as i had created 100 or so NFLD Community articles I had also placed the name in two or three other related categories. SO in following the Commons category/article set up I realized all three categories contained the same duplicate information as in the original article List of communities in Newfoundland and Labrador. Therefore the redundant category listings should be removed from the articles I started, so that only the main article should remain in the main Category. Technically Wikipedia Categories should only contain the main article name not the individual town or city name which would be a duplicate, does this make sense?? WayneRay 13:34, 9 September 2006 (UTC)WayneRay
- Hi Wayne, I didn't fully understand your explanation when you compared a list with a category. The list of communities is just a list of all communities; I use it to determine all of the communities in Newfoundland and Labrador that once and still exist. It is a great starting point to determine what community has an article started and those that require articles. A category serves as a grouping of like items of a similar topic and you will only see an article in a category when an article has been started and categorized. Naturally the articles should get placed in the lowest pertinent category in the hierarchal structure of that category to prevent duplication and clarity of the subject title. All of the communities in NL should belong the Category, ‘’Communities in Newfoundland and Labrador’’ as that is what they are. Also those communities that are on the coast then they should belong to the category Costal Towns in Canada. At some point in time I can see the category for costal communities be sub-divided by province as the category listing is getting long. Likewise I can see a subdivision of categories for Communities in Newfoundland and Labrador to reflect abandoned and re-settled communities, which will bring some context to the names and amalgamation of some of the communities. Hopefully I was able to relay my thoughts here without too much confusion. HJKeats 16:06, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

- Yes you are saying the same thing I did except, the List of communities... is the only article that should be in the Communities of NFLD and also Coastal towns. I was saying if someone is looking for, say, coastal communities, or small communities they should link on your article to find the List of communities, not have duplicate information on the other two categories. It takes away from your article doesn't it to have this duplicate information. I see your point though between the main article and the individual articles in the Categories. [edit] Ingelbert Lievaart
Hello. I've suggested that Ingelbert Lievaart should be deleted; you may disagree. Better, you might make the article more compelling. -- Hoary 10:52, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

- Hi and thanks, the article is far from complete, I am waiting for his Bio and credibility information, as he didn't want to create a vanity article. He is a fairly well known newspaper and music photographer here in London and the article will be more compelling as the week goees on. I am always amazed that people jump on my articles right away and don't realize they are in the early stages of being written. Maybe I will just compose them in Text editor and not post them until finished. I disagree with the delete, it will just take a week or so to finish. Any way I hardly have any links yet so few would find it, I was saving that for later. WayneRay 12:36, 26 September 2006 (UTC)WayneRay
- I noticed and replied to your response on my own talk page before I noticed that you'd posted it here too. So let's discuss this on my talk page rather than here. -- Hoary 12:47, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Come Home Year
Hi Wayne, as of now I don't have any plans to be in the Stephenville/Corner Brook area at that time. Certainly, if we are we will gladly take you up on the offer. I have a niece and her husband in Corner Brook, he's a lawyer for Humber Village Resorts, I may hit him up for a good rate on one of those chalets. --HJKeats 11:44, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trinity Bite
Hi Wayne, The best way of getting rid of the re-direct of each of the communities to Trinity Bight is to edit the articles remove the re-direct and replace it with text about the community. If you click on one of the communities in the Trinity Bight article it will re-direct you back to the Trinity Bight article but just beneath the article title is the actual location of the re-direct, click there and you will be in the article where the re-direct is actually placed. For example if you click on Trinity, Newfoundland and Labrador, it will put you back into the trinity Bight article but notice just below the title is the notation (Redirected from: Trinity, Newfoundland and Labrador). Click it and it will take you directly to the article witch contains the re-direct. Hope this helps, --HJKeats 11:58, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] When you do Newfoundland places...
Please note that the undisambiguated title St. John's is not an article about the city in Newfoundland (and it's not going to become one, as there are other St. John's in the world of comparable importance). You need to link directly to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Thanks. Bearcat 21:24, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] London Mail Processing Plant
A {{prod}} template has been added to the article London Mail Processing Plant, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hey, save your article to your hard-drive and make plans to bring it back later. I'll admit that I passed judgment on it without realizing that you intended more than an article about a local post office. And I agree, it's hard not to become frustrated with some of the pinheads who are trying to show off their supposed intellectual prowess on the Articles for Deletion board. Take it from one who has been there, when the "delete" votes outnumber the "keep", the article will probably disappear. Also, they take outrage pretty seriously here, no matter how justified it is. I almost got barred from posting anything at all, which would have been a problem for me, so let some things ride. As I say, save it and bring it back later. Best wishes, keep writing, don't let the "boo birds" get to ya. Mandsford 11:53, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HMS Press (Toronto/London) Canada
Please consider placing A tag has been placed on HMS Press (Toronto/London) Canada, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how HMS Press (Toronto/London) Canada is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:HMS Press (Toronto/London) Canada saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please feel free to use deletion review, but do not continue to repost the article if it is deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. WayneRay, i think it is possible that HMS Press is deserving of an article, but I don't believe this is the answer. WP:RS need to be found. I'm also troubled by the WP:COI issue. Victoriagirl 18:08, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I can't agree with the arguments put forth in your post on my talk page. First, I was directed to the "HMS Press (Toronto/London) Canada" article through the "Book publishing companies of Canada" category. I note that there is no "Book covers" category - the Book cover article is not linked to this category, nor are articles devoted to designers like Chip Kidd. I understand now that it was your intention to create similar articles for other publishers. These too would have been the subject of AfDs. In short, the article ran counter to Wikipedia policy, which states: "Mere collections of photographs or media files with no text to go with the articles." Captions aside, the HMS Press (Toronto/London) Canada article contained no more than one sentence. I can understand your wish for an article on HMS - and, as I've written, the press may very well be deserving of such. Given the conflict of interest guidelines, I respectfully suggest that you leave the decision to others. Victoriagirl 18:07, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Conflicts of interest
Hello.
Please stop adding articles in obvious conflict of interest. You have attempted to add many articles on businesses you own or have founded in violation of the Wikipedia rules, and have regularly attempted to circumvent their deletion despite many warnings that such behavior is considered disruptive. Wikipedia is not a proper venue to publicize your business endeavors.
If you persist, you will be blocked or banned. — Coren (talk) 18:44, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Whether the article only contained book covers (which is not appropriate either, by the way) is immaterial to the fact that writing or posting images of a business endeavor in which you are involved is a very bad idea. Please read the guidelines on conflicts of interest on Wikipedia carefully. — Coren (talk) 15:13, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
