[edit] Oldest operating Inn

A search of Google on "oldest operating inn" shows consensus that Wayside Inn is it. But, none of the sources on Google are very authoritative and could just as easily be getting their information from WI itself - so I've added a "self-proclaimed" disclaimer, until someone can find a better source, such as official government recognition or historian society - a neutral source who has verified the claim. Until then it's in the realm of folklore. -- Stbalbach 15:38, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Agree with this course of action. Note that I've been to eat at the Wayside Inn many times (I live less than 5 miles away) and I can confirm that the staff do make this claim--the first time I ate there the waiter kept a running narrative the whole time he was serving us and this was one of the first facts about the inn that he proclaimed.--Caliga10 15:56, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] National Historic Landmark

Also, I noticed a plaque up in the lobby indicating that the inn is a National Historic Landmark. In addition, see the following: [1]

NPS says "reputed". That might be the word to use instead of "self-proclaimed" (which is slightly negative in tone), and link to the NPS document as a source. -- Stbalbach 21:10, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
