"Wax Tailor" is the alias of French trip hop/hip hop producer, DJ Jean-Christophe Le Saoût. In the early 90s, his varied talents were wrapped up in the group ‘La Formule Band’. Alongside this affiliate, he worked on solo projects and eventually came into fame as his own headman. In 2001, he started the Wax Tailor project, which has produced much greater success than his earlier stints. His music has been labeled as a ‘cinematic hip-hop’ experience. Indeed, what sets Wax Tailor apart is his use of sampling. Specifically, his songs are often infused with film dialogue from earlier generations. His influences include musicians (Doris Day, Nina Simone) and also, directors (Stanley Kubrick, Woody Allen, and Alfred Hitchcock). [1]
