Waves (hairstyle)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Waves is a hairstyle created by and notably worn by African Americans that usually occurs naturally as part of the natural tightly curled wave pattern of Afro hair. Waves are made by getting a hair cut to the 1 1/4 inch. Then the person is to wash their hair every 4 days - 1 week. Then the person is to apply moisturizer and brush their hair from the crown area outward then when done wear a du-rag or a wave cap/ stocking cap. The pomade isn't required but used to make the waves deeper and wet looking. POmade also holds the waves or keeps them nice and neat, throughout the day. This takes weeks long and depends on the person's hair type but when one has them and if they all connect and fluid they have 360 waves referring to the waves 360 degrees around their head. To achieve this you will need to have to brush your hair at least 50 times a day in your desired direction. Also, try not to tie your du-rag to tight it will leave lines on your head.
