Watrap is a small village located in Virudhunagar District, Tamilnadu, India. Its geographical coordinates are 9° 38' 0" North, 77° 39' 0" East. The name Watrap is a corruption of "vatratha iruppu" means surplusage water. The holy uphill shrine "Sundara Mahalingam temple" (also known as thaani paarai, sathuragiri malai) is located here. Aadi amavasai (No Moon Day in the month of tamil month Aadi) is when lot of devotees all over from Tamilnadu throng here. Agriculture is the main economy in this place. There are totally 3 Government aided schools and two private schools in here. As a mode of entertainment, there are two cinema theatres in here. There is a dam here for irrigation and agriculture called "Pilavakal dam"
