Waterston House

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Waterstone House is the headquarters of the Scottish Ornithologists' Club at Aberlady, East Lothian, overlooking Aberlady Bay, Kilspindie Golf Course, and the Aberlady Local Nature Reserve (the first LNR in the United Kingdom).

Waterstone House is named after George Waterston, an ornithologist and conservationist who was the Director of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in Scotland. It is said to house the most comprehensive ornithological library in Scotland, with over 3,500 volumes.

Waterstone House's art gallery space is named after Donald Watson, a well known wildlife artist who was President of SOC; he died in 2005.
