Waterford Station will be a Miami-Dade Transit Metrorail station located near Blue Lagoon just north of West Miami, Florida, just south of Miami International Airport.
In 2006, Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) announced three location options: one between the Tamiami Canal and Northwest Seventh Street near 65th Avenue (identified as "Waterford Station -Option 1") and another near the intersection of Red Road (State Road 959/Northwest 57th Avenue) and Northwest 11th Street just south of an interchange between Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) and Red Road and two blocks south of Miami International Airport (identified as "57th Avenue North/Waterford Option 3"). A third possibility ("57th Avenue South/Waterford Option 2") at the corner of Red Road and Northwest 57th Avenue has since been removed from the MDT trafficrelief.com site as a viable candidate. Miami-Dade Transit will make the site determination after a series of public meetings.
This station will be a part of the East-West Metrorail Expansion, and is scheduled to open to operation in 2016.[1]
