Water Eaton, Oxfordshire

Water Eaton is a hamlet of just north of the city of Oxford in the English county of Oxfordshire that is the site of a large Park-and-Ride.

It forms part of the civil parish of Gosford and Water Eaton and the district of Cherwell.

The village name 'Eaton' is Anglo-Saxon in origin, and the whole means 'farm by a river'. In June 1646 the Articles of Surrender for the siege of Oxford were finally agreed in Water Eaton, the signing took place on June 20 in the Audit House of Christ Church, Oxford.
