Water 1st International is a non-profit organization helping people in poor countries implement water, sanitation and hygiene education projects. Water 1st works through locally-based partner organizations to support the implementation of projects that include the provision of drinking water, hygiene education, and sanitary latrines. It is based in Seattle, Washington (USA), and in 2006 and 2007 funded the construction of 113 water systems in India, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Honduras benefiting 20,000 people. Water 1st has committed to funding an additional 73 projects serving 15,000 people in 2008.

Water 1st is a member of the End Water Poverty coalition [1] and Water Advocates [2]

In 2008, Water 1st launched a new event called CARRY 5. CARRY 5 is a Walk for Water to raise awareness of the global water crisis and funds to support the implementation of projects. Beacon Hill News

Water 1st is working with schools to educate children about the global water crisis.[3] There is a Water 1st Club on the campus of the University of Washington. Members of the chapter engage in educational outreach events, primarily to K–12 schools. [4]
