Watagan Mountains

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Watagan Mountains are located on the East Coast of New South Wales, Australia. They are between the Hunter River Catchment and the Tuggerah Lakes. The Watagans are a popular tourist location and are close to Newcastle, Sydney and the Central Coast. They are covered with thick forest and have many camping areas. There are various bush tracks and trails varying in difficulty. Visitors should be careful as some areas in the Watagans are National Parks. They can be quite steep, and reach their highest point at Mount Warrawalong which rises to 641 metres (2,103 ft) above sea level.
