Wat Khung Taphao (listen ) (Thai: วัดคุ้งตะเภา, literally Temple of the bend of sailing ship watercourse) is a Buddhist temple (wat) in Thailand, located in the Mueang Uttaradit district of Uttaradit Province in Northern Thailand.

Wat Khung Taphao temple is ancient temple but has no appear certain evidence that build in which age. This temple name in the past is "Wat Khung sam phao"(Thai: วัดคุ้งสำเภา) (Temple of the bend of sailing ship watercourse) because temple location adjoin the Nan River originally and ever have one sailing ship comes to fall down that in front this temple.
In Thon Buri time is the capital city. Wat Khung Taphao has hall for sermons in a monastery stays (Sala) one back riverside. Later the government service has name village patrol and a temple for register are correct. When Kamnan goes to inform the village name, But government servant writes to spell wrong. Village name from "Ban Khung sam phao"(Thai: บ้านคุ้งสำเภา) become "Ban Khung Taphao" and come to the name and "Wat Khung Taphao" until nowadays.
