What?

[edit] Source
Quite a bit of the info here is taken from Thank U Stars. I know it's not really the done thing on Wikipedia to use personal websites as sources (which is why I'm writing this here rather than as a formal references) but there's so little information around about the TV series that I didn't really have a choice! [edit] Petition
I was wondering if it is worthy of mention to mention the current petition underway to air the Watership Down series in the United States. www.petitiononline.com/wat0023/petition.html
- No. There are petitions underway in support of just about anything you care to name; one more or fewer isn't notable. Loganberry (Talk) 23:48, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
If you ask me this petition needs help though. It's been on the web for two days and only has two signatures.
- Wikipedia is not a soapbox. --Wafulz 23:18, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Okay then, any other ideas as to how I should get the 100,000 signatures this petition needs?
- Well, it has four at the moment, so the answer is: find 99,996 other people who want to sign it. HTH. Loganberry (Talk) 03:41, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, but how do I do that? (Would you happen to have the entire series on DVD, I'm hoping someone who has the series can e-mail it to me, provided they have media encoder software)
- Let's face it, the chance of 100,000 people signing that is more or less zero. As for the DVDs: nope; I'm not a particular fan of the series I'm afraid. Anyway, an article's Talk page is supposed to a place for discussing the article specifically, not a discussion board for the topic in general, so I'll leave it there. Yeah, the petition isn't going well. Although I really don't think Nickelodeon would need a petition to get this series. I think they should be on their knees begging for help. They're rolling out stupider and stupider shows month after month. They need a sensible show like Watership Down that actually has a point to it.
[edit] Personal Reviews
I'm a fan of the novel, so bear with me on this. I don't think the show is all that it's cracked up to be. Yes, it's a good show for kids to watch, but there are differences from the book and movie which threw me off. Example: Changing Blackberry from a buck to a doe. This made a lot of Watership Down fans angry. Another thing is changing Hyzenthlay's name to Primrose. I don't see why such changes had to be made. With the Blackberry thing, many people think it was for gender equality. But if that's the case, they could have just made up another character. It wouldn't be the first time. Now, with the romance on the show. I liked how the couplings were done, but I can't help but notice this feeling of incessant love at first sight. Three of such relationships occurred on the down between Hazel and Primrose, Campion and Blackberry, and Bigwig and Spartina. Now, the one I saw coming (because it was in the book) was Hazel and Primrose. But it got kinda racy kinda quickly. Primrose was rescued from Efrafa and not one day later, not only did Hazel confess his love to her, he admitted openly to wanting to have more children than El-ahrairah. In fact, the next morning, he announced to his Sandleford compatriots that he was going to be a father. Campion and Blackberry were only introduced to each other when they started falling for each other, and without spending that much time together, after Campion is left for dead, Blackberry's acting like a Portuguese widow. Bigwig's relationship with Spartina made the least sense. Without even knowing her name, or even what her face looked like, he's basically devoted to her. Bringing her flayrah and his attitude change, etc. Now, there are certain aspects of the show I enjoyed. I liked the mouse character, they can keep her. But one thing mentioned in the show I really felt was a nice touch was mentioned by Campion that night when he and Hazel are trapped in the greenhouse. That Woundwort saved Efrafa from starvation when he first came. I noticed instantly how similar that story was to how Hitler saved Germany from the Great Depression. I felt that to be an excellent symbolism. But with too many cons outweighing not enough pros, I'll have to give the show a "thumbs down." Zadduel86 (talk) 04:48, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your review. However, a Wikipedia Talk page is not an appropriate forum for such things: Talk pages are for discussing an article itself, not for discussing that article's subject. The reason is that otherwise this page would be overwhelmed with reviews and general discussion, and it would become very hard for editors to discuss editing itself.
