[edit] Permission

I have permission to post this article. I developed this website for the Canadian Federal Government division: Fisheries and Oceans Canada, with the assistance of West Coast Environmental Law.

I am sending the permission to permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org to confirm the status of this article.

[edit] The Posting

The posting of Watershed Protection is an important topic, that we decided was of value to the world. We are considering an expansion on the topic to include more information, that will support the wikipedia community, on the topics of law, planning, and governance of watersheds.

Just so you're aware, I didn't mean to indicate that it wasn't an important topic - just that it was, if posted without permission, a copyright violation.

It is going to need to be cleaned up though - the tone needs to be more encyclopedic - right now it reads like a school essay to me, and with an encyclopedia, you want a more formal tone. I also removed your signature from the page - anyone looking at the page history will know that you edited/created the page, but user signatures don't properly belong on the page.

If you want to work with me to make this more encyclopedic (I admit that I don't know the subject area well enough to write an article myself), let me know and I'll take off the tags and start working with the text. Ellbeecee 17:51, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the follow-up, Ellbeecee. I understand your concerns, and I hope you can forgive my ignorance; wikipedia submission is new to me.

I would appreciate some assistance editing this article, so I can get an idea of the voice you would like it presented. As you have seen from the original website, the topic is vast and covers alot of related details.

I'm not sure if this is where I post my reply. Hopefully, you will see it here. I did not see any way of contacting you directly.

[edit] Edits and Critiques

I would greatly appreciate any constructive criticism or suggestions about my work. I am trying to improve myself as a communicator and I feel that it is important for me to find out what the community thinks about my strengths and weaknesses. Feel free to post on this talk page or send me a message.

Thanks,

 Prevero

[edit] Feedback

Prevero: Prompted by your request on my talkpage, I took a quick look at the article. I have some concerns about the topic, or perhaps, better said, the way the topic is approached. I'm concerned this article might be a non-nuetral Wikipedia:Content forking of Drainage basin. If it was titled, and talked more about as, Watershed management on the whole, I wouldn't be so concerned - that would be a great article of which this article should be a part (a subsection). Here you have given information about watersheds in general, pollution and pollution migration by water, and who governs environmental control. The way the article currently reads, it lacks a continuous thread relating to watershed protection.

Consider for a minute the topic of watershed management. A watershed management artcle might include: agencies governing watershed use, watershed planning, watershed monitoring, watershed protection... Think about it...

And if you want more feedback, take a look at Wikipedia:Requests for comment. ZueJay (talk) 23:35, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
