Wassily de Basil

Colonel Wassily de Basil (1880 - July 27, 1951) was a Russian ballet impresario. Following the death of Sergei Diaghilev in 1929 his Ballets Russes scattered. René Blum, ballet director at the Monte Carlo Opera, and de Basil, founded the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo in 1931[1] Following the split between Blum and de Basil, de Basil formed the Original Ballet Russe.
