Wasini Island lies off the southern Indian Ocean coast of Kenya next to Shimoni. It is approximately 5km long and 1km across. The Island is sparsely populated and undeveloped. There are no cars or roads. The island is next to the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park. A site of early Swahili civilization, its attractions include exposed coral reefs.The coral island is occupied by the fuba people(an indigenous group of the Niger Congo, Bantu speaking dialect who have a rich history, they speak swahili and kifuba, they number about 1500, Women groups in the island have established wasini island nature walk in the beautiful coral gardens of wasini, The proceeds help the needy wasini students.
