Washington High School is a public high school located at 4747 W. Washington on the West Side of South Bend, Indiana. It is part of the SBCSC magnet program, where it is the Medical/Allied Health Magnet Program.

Washington High School first opened its doors to staff members on February 1, 1960. The project had been started in 1956, when the financing for the building was allocated. Approximately $4,000,000 dollars were set aside for the construction. Maurer and Maurer architectural firm was hired to build the facility, and ground breaking occurred on October 22, 1958. Since 1959, the building has undergone some changes. A second gymnasium has been added, along with updates to the athletic fields. Beginning in 2002, a massive school renovation began. The building gained many classrooms, a new lunchroom, and new gymnasium.

Washington has been very active in sports over the past two years. In the past they won the 1973-1974 state football championship under the leader ship of Coach Bob Van Camp. The recent spotlight has been on the girls basketball team. In the 2005-2006 season, coach Marilyn Coddens led the Lady Panthers to a state runner-up finish. After the runner-up setback, they followed up with a state championship in the 2006-2007 season. The South Bend Washington Lady Panthers basketball team, has produced one the nations girls basketball top prospects in Skylar Diggins. The Washington Baseball program has experienced many winning seasons under now retired IHSAA hall of fame coach Rick Tomaszewski. The unofficial sports website is WashingtonPanthers.piczo.com

In 2005, the South Bend Community School Corporation moved into a magnet school corporation. Washington was chosen as the Medical/Applied Health Magnet Program. The 2006 graduation rate was 70%, with a total number of 261 graduates. The 2006-2007 enrollment is 1465, of which 43% are Black, 38% are White, 15% are Hispanics, 3% are Multiracial, 1% are Native American, and 0% are Asian.
