Given the dysfunction that now prevails in the Wikipedia community, and the fact that effort on Wikipedia is anonymous, unrecognized, and unrewarded, the most appropriate course for a scientist or other expert is to avoid all stress inducing aspects of the project and maximize leisure time pleasure. They should treat the project as a fun hobby and stay away from potentially stressful activities such as resolving disputes or enforcing policy.
These hobbyist-experts ought not to concern themselves with the success or failure of Wikipedia. Perhaps Wikipedia will squander the labor of talented volunteers. Perhaps Wikipedia will squander the good will of readers as inferior and biased articles increasingly predominate. Such matters are of no consequence to the hobbyist-expert.
Be a WikiSloth. Spend time with your family. Write real papers and real articles in the real world. On Wikipedia, enjoy yourself.

Another Tip of the moment...
Any user can become an administrator (AKA "sysop"). Admins have no special rights over the content of Wikipedia; they are like janitors. An admin can delete pages (in accordance with Wikipedia:Deletion policy), protect them (in accordance with Wikipedia:Protection policy), and block vandals (in accordance with Wikipedia:Blocking policy). All of these actions can be undone by any sysop. If you have been active on Wikipedia for some time (four to six months with at least 3000 edits is a good guideline), apply for adminship today if you want to help with the housekeeping. [edit] May 2008
The weather is much better now! I'm heading outside. Sitting around inside is just not healthy. I am taking a long Wiki-break. Mind you, I'm not going anywhere. Just running and swimming more in the time slot I used to spend here. Sorry, I am a foul weather friend of Wikipedia. I will return when the weather turns foul. Cheers! - Pah. It's still too cold! And where were you for the Vancouver meet-up, eh? --jbmurray (talk • contribs) 03:26, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] GA icon
Thanks, but I only started the section after it was proposed. Everyone else has been editing it and adding to it. will381796 (talk) 02:03, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- Still a good idea. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 02:04, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Young Actors Theatre
Wow! Thanks! You've magically fixed up all this perfectly. Have a great weekend Paul Laetoli (talk) 11:21, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Film banner tagging
Hey WWC, I was looking at some of your recent banner edits, and I wanted to ask if you would maybe take a more careful look at the parameter usage at Template:Film, because many of the parameters are being added erroneously (e.g., |needs-infobox=yes means that the article doesn't have an infobox yet), superfluously (having parameters for |nested=yes and |nested=no), or outright deleted (such as |NZ-task-force=yes). I'm very happy to have additional editors flagging articles as necessary, but this only makes less work for other project editors if they're properly tagging, so if you could take a minute to review the code instructions, I'd be very grateful. Otherwise, keep up the good work, and I look forward to your edits! Thanks, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 13:13, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Project Narnia
Hello, when you moved Project Narnia into the Project Novels space, there were some subpages that were not moved. How do we go about adding them back to the project? LloydSommerer (talk) 14:41, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Deleted Page: Characters, World War Z
I did a good deal of work on this page, trying to connect the characters with the Real World (tm) elements satirized. I thought that that was the point of being "notable" but perhaps I have misunderstood. I have to say I don't spend a great deal of time on Wikipedia; mostly I came to see what my students were cribbing (!) and have edited a few pages. I found the deletion of my contribution somewhat disconcerting. I believe that you were the person who deleted it and I hope you can put it back again or at least let me know why you don't like it. Thanks Stewart king (talk) 06:44, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Please note
An article which you reviewed and passed as a WP:GA-rated article, est and The Forum in popular culture, is under disruption by FreedomByDesign (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log) who has repeatedly remove large chunks and even whole subsections of sourced info from the article. I have started a notice at WP:ANI Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Disruption_by_User:FreedomByDesign here - your input at ANI or action in this matter would be appreciated. Cirt (talk)
