Warren Smith (broadcaster)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Warren Smith is an Australian rugby league commentator for Fox Sports Australia's National Rugby League (NRL) coverage. He is also the host of two programs aired on Fox Sports: NRL Scoreboard, a Monday wrap-up of the previous weekend's NRL action and NRL on Fox, a Wednesday preview of rugby league for the coming weekend.
Smith regularly duels wits with rugby league legend Laurie Daley, and sometimes Gary Freeman and Greg Alexander, over every controversial aspect of rugby league, from NRL rules to State of Origin selections (an example of this is Smith controversially supporting Hazem El Masri for the NSW position of wing). Smith also presents a weekly award known as the "Pumpkin" for the silliest player of the round.
Warren Smith, or "Wazza" as he is affectionately known to diehard rugby league fans, also had a comical exchange with Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy when he was calling a game from Olympic Park.
