Warren James Carne (born 14 October 1975 in Bulawayo, Matabeleland, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) is a Zimbabwean Mountain biker.

[edit] Early years

Carne relocated with his parents to Potchefstroom, South Africa, in the late 1980s. He is the eldest of three children and graduated from Potchefstroom Boys High the same year as the South African Olympic 800 metre runner Hezekiel Sepeng and the Springbok Heavyweight Boxer Sean Santana. In addition to cycling, Carne was a useful cricketer playing league in the late 1990s, he maintains a keen interest in the sport having worked as a cricket coach and free lance cricket writer.

As a junior he dabbled in time trialing on the road before turning his attention to mountain biking. His riding style is far better suited to marathon type racing rather than the more technical lap format found in the cross country discipline. He placed 12th at the 2005 Zimbabwean National XC MTB Championshipsheld in Harare. He represented Zimbabwe at the 2007 UCI African Cross-country cycling Championships that were held in Windhoek, Namibia, placing 5th in the Men's 30-39 Cross Country race behind eventual winner, Namibian Tokkie BomboschHe and fellow Zimbabwean cyclist,Timothy Jones (cyclist) share the same grandfather.
