Warning chime

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A warning chime is a carillon-like sound, used in automobiles to warn about:

  • Handbrake in use while accelerator pedal is being pressed.
  • Ignition on/door open.
  • Low fuel level.
  • Proximity warning.
  • Seat belt not being utilised.
  • Speed alert (travelling faster than speed set in computer).
  • Failure of safety system (ABS)

This sound can be construed as aggravating by some, leading to certain individuals altering their automobile to render the source of the chime mute.
