Wargrave railway station is a railway station in the village of Wargrave in the county of Berkshire in England.

The station is served by local services operated by First Great Western on the Henley-on-Thames branch between Henley-on-Thames and Twyford 3 km (1¾ miles) south. There is a single platform serving both directions.

[edit] History

When the Henley Branch Line was opened no station was provided at Wargrave; apparently it was considered that Twyford station was close enough. After many complaints from the villagers a station was opened in 1900. At the time the line was double, so two platforms and a footbridge were provided. The station retained its Great Western Railway building until 1988 when it was demolished on the excuse that it was "unsafe".

[edit] Service

There is an hourly daily service northbound to Henley-On-Thames and southbound to Twyford.

Passengers for London Paddington eastbound or Reading and the West Country change at Twyford. During the morning and evening rush hours some services run direct to/from Paddington.
