[edit] History

The club was formed in 1892 as Ware Town F.C. but soon shortened its name to simply Ware F.C..

In their early years the team played in the East Herts League and North Essex League before joing the Herts County League in 1908, where in their first season they were Eastern Division champions and claimed the overall title by topping a play-off pool. They repeated this feat in 1921-22. When the league folded in 1925 Ware joined the Spartan League, before moving on to the Delphian League in 1955 and then the Athenian League in 1963.

In 1975 Ware joined the Isthmian League Division Two, which was soon renamed Division One. In 1982 they were relegated to what was now Division Two and in 1997 dropped into Division Three. In 2002 this division was renamed Division Two and Ware won the championship of this division in 2005-06 to step up to Division One North.

In the 2007-08 season Ware managed to qualify for the FA Cup First Round Proper for the first time since 1968. They lost 2-0 at home to Conference National side Kidderminster Harriers in front of a record attendance of 2,123.
