Haylett was the 20th head college football coach for the Doane College Tigers located in Crete, Nebraska and he held that position for four seasons, from 1924 until 1927. His coaching record at Doane was 17 wins, 12 losses, and 4 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2007 season, this ranks him eighth at Doane in total wins and 12th at Doane in winning percentage (0.576).[1]

After Doane, Haylett became the 19th head football coach for the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan, Kansas and he held that position for three seasons, from 1942 until 1944. His overall coaching record at Kansas State was 6 wins, 20 losses, and 2 ties. This ranks hi 15th at Kansas State in terms of total wins and 21st at Kansas State in terms of winning percentage.[2]
