[edit] Plot

Geum Nara (Park Shin Yang) is a typical guy who has a good life: a good job, and a beautiful, rich girlfriend. Nothing wrong can happen to him. But when a cold loan shark, Ma Dong Po, arrives to collect money from his father on his daughter's wedding day, it's up to him to get $100,000.00 to save the family. On the same day, his dad killed himself and his mom died from lack of medical care. He and his sister are stucked with the debt. His sister decides to stay with her husband while Nara tries to find a job. After many days wandering the streets as a beggar, he stumbles upon a friend who tells him about a rich, old man who turned mere cents into serious money within a day. Nara decides to take advantage of this and tries to meet the old man and find out his secret. He spots him in a village where he tries to persuade him to teach him how to become a loan shark. After countless refusals from the old man, the old man finds that Nara is not just any guy who would ask him for money. He agrees to train him and Nara passes the old man's tests. The old man tells him to go to Chief Ma's office for the job. Nara, not knowing that Chief Ma killed his father, gets the job using wits. While being a loan shark, Nara bumps into a young woman banker, Joo Hee, and together they dodge money collectors, gangs itching to kill him, and worst of all, their past. In the 7th and 8th episodes, Nara tries to find 5 thousand million won hidden in a secret room under Chief Ma's office. Seeking revenge, he frightnens Chief Ma by hiding all the money. In shock, Chief Ma collapses, allegedly from high blood pressure. Then Geum Nara is chased around by those who also want the 5 million (in USD). Finally, he donates the money to people in poverty in Africa and North Korea. Later, Ha Woo Sung, a rich man trying to overthrow the banking company Blue Angel, rises to power in the company. Because of decreasing popularity, he seeks a new plan and gives 51% of the shares to Madam Bong. Madam Bong, Yi Cha Won's grandmother, makes Nara the CEO. Woo Sung is fired, and Nara becomes very successful. In the last episode Geum Nara is about to get married. While he is talking to Joo Hee, he finds out that Ma Dong Po, finally recovered, wishes to see him. They talk, but Dong Po hits and kills Nara with his cane. The 16th episode ends with blood running down Nara's face and a flashback of his life.
