War Wagon (comics)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The War Wagon is a fictional weapon used unsuccessfully against the Hulk. It's possible that it was inspired by a siege weapon used in medieval Korea. It was built with only one reason in mind, to destroy the Hulk.
The War Wagon is a flying warship that's equipped with various weapons, including napalm missiles, sonic weapons, flame-throwers, and electrically-charged defensive shields. It's controlled by an "encephalo-helmet", which enables the wearer to, mentally, control the craft. However, while the wearer has the helmet on, he can feel the damage inflicted on the craft as pain.
It first appeared in Incredible Hulk v2 #257 and was built by scientists at the Gamma Base. Its construction accounted for many of the base's unexplainable cost over-runs and eventually led to the government cutting the Gamma Base's funding. Vowing to destroy the Hulk himself, Major Talbot stole the War Wagon and used it against Hulk at the base of an inactive volcano in Japan (Incredible Hulk v2 #260). After a short battle, the enraged Hulk punched the side of the volcano, releasing hot lava from the volcano. The lava covered the War Wagon, causing it to crash into the side of the volcano. The feedback from the crash fried Talbot's brain and killed him.
