[edit] Developement
When was WarCraft III announced? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.116.176.189 (talk) 23:58, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] War3 picture
The first picture that appears in this article is actually from a TFT game not RoC. Unless Arcane Vault is available in the latter aswell. 89.114.198.98 15:26, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- I just noticed that today. I'll try and supply a new image. Nice catch (months ago :P). FusionMix 20:58, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Lol, sorry about that. I want to look through the RoC campaign and see if I can find a good shot as well. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 21:09, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] ROC competition
Do any of the major organizations still host ROC (not TFT) matches in competition? Basically I'm looking to see how ROC strategy has evolved, in comparison to TFT. 24.6.88.232 (talk) 06:18, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I don't believe so, because TFT is much faster paced and balanced compared to the original. David Fuchs (talk) 12:36, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
nope:D tft is much more balanced... humans are actually used :S... should someone make a comment to this effect...Jackchen123 (talk) 09:09, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Glossary And battle.net hosting section
I recommend that the Warcraft 3 article is expanded with a Warcraft 3 glossary. Also, due to tons of different forum topics about how to host in wc3, a battlenet hosting section would be highly appreciated.
Glossary examples:
-Strategic elements
-General tactics discussion -Different counters -Tactics development
-Micro
-Definition of Macro in Warcraft 3 -Unit controlling -How, where, and when to unit control
-Macro
-Definition of macro in Warcraft 3 -Macro controlling -How, where, and when to macro control
-Expansion elements
-Heroes
-Use of spells -Hero and unit combinations -Combinations of heroes
-Different game setups
-General 1v1 strategy -General 2v2 strategy -General 3v3 strategy -General 4v4 strategy -General FFA strategy

- I'm sorry, but this all seems like gameguide material which Wikipedia is not.--Fogeltje (talk) 14:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
certainly not... wikipedia is not a strategy guide... you could host you're imformation with another wiki or guide...Jackchen123 (talk) 09:10, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Plot Summary Too Long
The plot summary is way too long. So, I've added a plot tag. A summary shouldn't be seven long paragraphs in length. 76.4.142.135 (talk) 16:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- Forgot to log-in again. MastaFighta (talk) 16:40, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
nope don't agree.. anyone else agree? i mean considering how long it takes to beat the bloody thing... Jackchen123 (talk) 07:32, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I happen to agree that the plot summary should be shortened immensely. A lot of it is elaborate language, and going too much into the inner workings of the plot. Nobody needs to know everything Arthas does as he goes insane. So this:
"The Orcish warchief Thrall arrives upon the shores of Kalimdor and is met by the Tauren Chieftain Cairne Bloodhoof, who informs Thrall of a nearby Oracle. Thrall heads north to seek the Oracle, clashing with a human expedition who has also arrived upon Kalimdor. Meanwhile, Grom Hellscream and the Warsong Clan have been left behind to build a permanent Orcish settlement, and in cutting down the local forests, anger the native Night Elves and their demigod, Cenarius. In order to defeat them, Grom willingly drinks the pit lord Mannoroth's blood, binding his clan and himself to the Legion's control. On Stonetalon Peak, Thrall reaches the Oracle, who is actually the mysterious Prophet. The Prophet informs Thrall and Archmage Jaina Proudmoore that Grom has succumbed to demonic control, and the two races will need to join forces to save him. With the humans' help, Thrall captures Grom and purges him of the demons' influence. Afterwards Thrall and Grom confront Mannoroth. After Mannoroth knocks Thrall aside, Grom attacks Mannoroth and slays him, releasing the Orcs from demonic control forever, but dies doing so."
- could become this:
"The Orcish Warchief Thrall is told of an Oracle, and clashes with a human expedition on the way to find it. Meanwhile, the Warsong clan are left behind to build a permanent settlement, but anger the Night Elves and their demigod by cutting down the forests. To defeat them, the Warsong leader Grom drinks the pit lord Mannoroth's blood, binding his clan to the Legion's control. Thrall manages to reach the Oracle, who tells him of Grom's doings, and that the help of the humans is required to save him. With the humans, Thrall purges Grom of the demonic influence. Grom turns on Mannoroth and kills him, dying to release the orcs from the pit lord's control."
- Anybody think that this works? I don't think we need to know every character's involvement, just what happened. FusionMix 11:12, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm going to take a stab at shortening it (I still think we need a paragraph for each race campaign, but we'll see). Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 14:36, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- We could insert text markings such as "At this point, the so-and-so campaign begins". Currently, the main issue is that it goes into too much depth. FusionMix 21:29, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think it looks a lot better now, eh? Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 23:11, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Definitely, that plot section is nice and solid now. Good work on organizing the thing, I'd have made a mess of it otherwise. Perhaps attention should be turned to the Sound subsection now? I don't think all of those quotations should be needed. Perhaps one or two, but not the mess that's there. And anyway, they need sources. Sources are one of the things that, imo, are standing between this article and GA status. FusionMix 01:50, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- I was going to push this to GA a while back, but I forgot about it... yeah, the quotations needs to be sourced and cut down (everyone keeps on adding a random one, I swear.) I'll look for interviews with the composers as well. The gameplay needs to be expanded and sourced, we need a development section, and reception could be improved... that's about it, I believe. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 01:59, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- I just looked over the article, and can't see anything besides that in need of touchup. I'm going to wade into the Sound section first off, and whack out that mess of quotes. Saying "It includes quotes from so-and-so" will probably be sufficient. FusionMix 14:12, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
