[edit] Editing the Introduction

11/15/07 - I just fixed up the introduction to this article, making it more organized and easier for people who do not know much about the topic. Can the "Insufficient Context" flag now be removed?

[edit] Neutrality

"It is incontestable that the inhabitants of Gaul and Spain are descended from Gomer, and the Russians from Magog..."

"Incontestable", eh? I believe it has indeed been contested, and that this article is generally pushing a POV, rather than neutrally written. Til Eulenspiegel 16:32, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

No! You illiterate idiot, it's a quote from Voltaire's The Philosophical Dictionary. If you read the article, you'd know that. The heading clearly states who's view it is. This article follows the WP:NPOV guidelines. Don't put a [citation needed] in the middle of a cited quote. Don't edit this article again, Til Eulenspiegel, and don't reply to anything here on the talk page either. Come back to Wikipedia when you can read. He's the full paragraph:
"There is a genealogical tree of the events of this world. It is incontestable that the inhabitants of Gaul and Spain are descended from Gomer, and the Russians from Magog, his younger brother: one finds this genealogy in so many fat books! On this basis one cannot deny that the Great Turk, who is also descended from Magog, was not bound to be well beaten in 1769 by Catherine II., Empress of Russia. This adventure is clearly connected with other great adventures. But that Magog spat to right or left, near Mount Caucasus, and that he made two circles in a well or three, that he slept on the left side or on the right; I do not see that that has had much influence on present affairs."

First, what makes you think you have a right to call me an "illiterate idiot" on Wikipedia? You do not; we have civility standards, and if you flout them with me again, you will be reported for blocking. Please keep your comments civil, and avoid fallacies like ad hominem and name calling like a gentleman, there's a good chap. Secondly, the word "incontestable", at least the way I understand it, implies something that cannot be contested. This is not the case with the assertion that inhabitants of Gaul, etc., are descendants of Gomer, etc. Please note that before your edit, it was near impossible to discern that this was a quote from Voltaire, and it is still, after your recent edits, quite difficult to tell this. I submit that if you will adhere to WP:CITE standards in the future, not only can situations like this be avoided, but it will have been much harder for anyone to accuse you of using deceptive formatting to misrepresent Voltaire's opinions by making them appear as if they were Wikipedia's own words. As far as your presumption to claim the pretended authority over me, to banish me from the article and this talkpage, it hardly qualifies a response. You personally may have a hard time getting along with others and reading others' comments, but all of us editors still have a right to collaborate on wikipedia and on editing matters, that is the most fundamental aspect of this project; and I will let you know right now that I intend to fully exercise that right wheresoever I deem appropriate, so you may as well save your breath attempting to dictate who may edit this article and talkpage. [edit] Re-adding neutrality tag

I've flagged this article as non neutral again, because it does not adhere to the policy which any literate person can read at WP:NPOV. It gives undue weight to just one interpretation among many, of Ezekiel 38 - 39, and totally ignores other significant interpretations and points of view. In its current form, it is a POV screed promoting only one view. Notwithstanding the level of belligerence seen above (which is rather higher than I am accustomed to seeing on Wikipedia) I think this article could stand to be substantially improved by qualified research to add a variety of viewpoints, in accordance with WP:NPOV. [edit] Trivia?

In pop culture, it is central to the bestselling novels Left Behind and The Ezekiel Option. It is depicted in Apocalypse and the Left Behind movie.

These are best-selling and popular books and movies are, so then isn't this trivia? Erudecorp 20:52, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
