Wappenshall Junction

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wappenshall Junction (grid reference SJ662145) is a canal junction located at Wappenshall, Shropshire. It was created to join the Newport Branch Canal with the Shrewsbury Canal.

Today the junction still has a warehouse over part of the canal, a roving bridge, and has been the subject of work by the Shrewsbury & Newport Canals Trust.

In 2007 the warehouse was put up for sale, and the canal trust expressed an interest in purchasing the site, to convert it into a canal museum, heritage centre and cafe.
