Wang Jun (PRC politician)

Wang Jun (Chinese: ηŽ‹ε›; March 26 1952 - ) is the current president and CPC party chief of State Administration of Work Safety of the People's Republic of China.

Born in Datong, Shanxi Province, Wang pursued a postgraduate degree at Communist Party of China Central Party School, majoring in philosophy. He holds a title of senior engineer at professor's level. He joined CPC in July 1977.

At the age of 19, he started working in Qingciyao coal mine in Shanxi. In 1974, he was recommended to study coal mining at Shanxi Institute of Mining. After graduation, he was assigned to work in Datong Mining Bureau. Starting as a normal technician, he was eventually elevated to the director of the Bureau. His former posts included technician in ventilation zone of Jinhuagong Mine, assistant engineer, deputy head and later head of ventilation zone, vice manager of Jinhuagong Mine and vice secretary of CPC committee at Datong Mining Bureau. In 1993, he became the first deputy director of the mining bureau, and was promoted to director two years later.

After 20-year tenure at Datong Mining Bureau, Wang was elevated to central government in October of 1997 and became vice minister of Coal Industry. During reform of central administration half a year later, the Ministry of Coal Industry was demolished, and Wang became vice director of newly established National Bureau of Coal Industry, remaining ranking of vice minister. Starting from 1999, he had served in several posts in Jiangxi Province, including vice governor, vice secretary of CPC provincial committee and president of Jiangxi provincial party school. In 2006, he was appointed as vice party chief and vice president of All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, and was promoted to party chief of the Federation one year later.

On March 20 2008, three days after conclusion of 1st meeting of 11th National People's Congress, the State Council appointed him as the president of State Administration of Work Safety.[1]

He is an alternate member of 16th Central Committee of Communist Party of China, and a full member of 17th Central Committee.
