Talk:Wang Tao (19th century)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Encyclopedia Britannica got the birth place of Wang Tao all skrewed up. yellow isnt the same as green.
"born Nov. 10, 1828, Fu-li-chen, Manchuria died 1897?, Shanghai"
1) First of all, the birth place of Wang Tao 甫里 is pronounced as Pu-li, not Fu-li, (chen means township ). The character "甫" indeed has two pronunciation, Fu, and Pu; however 甫里 must be pronounced as Pu-li, never as Fu-li.[1]
2) Secondly, Pu-li , now Luzhi ( or Lu Zhi ), is in the Wu Zhong district of Suzhou city, not in Manchuria, which is thousand miles up north !

"The latter was highly regarded by high mandarins of the Qing government, including Zeng Guofan, Li Hongzhang, and paved the way for his final pardon by the Qing government later."
There's no mention of Wang Tao getting convicted of anything to be pardoned for. Can anyone explain?--Lucifer(sc) 08:14, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Footnote 2a
Although I've set the footnotes up, I'm not sure what footnote 2a refers to? Is that simply a second reference to footnote 2, or does there need to be a footnote 2a added in? --Ricky81682 (talk) 00:45, Apr 4, 2005 (UTC)
