Walthamstow School for Girls

Walthamstow School for Girls is a single sex girls' secondary school situated in Walthamstow, East London, England. It currently educates 900 girls between the ages of 11-16. Locally the school is known as 'Green School'. According to the teachers this is not because of the green uniform, but because of the clear commitment to the environment.

Walthamstow School for Girls divides the management and delivery of teaching and learning into faculties.

The uniform, as previously stated, is bottle green,an extremely smart and a locally respected uniform.

The current Headmistress is Rachel Macfarlane.

The faculties are English; Maths; Science; ICT; Humanities; Language and Learning Development; Modern Foreign Languages; Pastoral Faculty; Performing Arts and Art, Design and Technology. Languages taught at the school are French, Spanish and Urdu, with a terms study of each of these made compulsory in year 7.

Its grounds host a Greek Theatre which was built in 1926 and since played an enormous part in school life; hosting plays and music concerts. Recently, in 2006 there was celebrations at the school to celebrate 50 years.
