WalterCon is the official conference for the Haiku operating system developer and user community. It is an annual event that gathers members of the Haiku community as well as anyone interested in the Haiku Project.[1]
The first WalterCon was held in Columbus, Ohio in 2004, the second was held in Las Vegas, in 2005, and the third conference was held in Orlando, Florida in 2006.
The name comes from an injoke based around an April Fool's Day message on the then OpenBeOS website stating that the name Walter The Operating System had been chosen to replace OpenBeOS. This joke was backed up with a domain name, and a professionally designed logo for the Walter OS.
