Wallis and Futuna national rugby union team

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wallis and Futuna national rugby union team represents Wallis and Futuna in rugby union. They have not yet qualified for the rugby world cup. Their first international was against Papua New Guinea, who beat them 54-5 in 1966. Wallis and Futuna recorded their first, and as yet only, victory against Tahiti, defeating them 3 - 0 away from home in 1971. Wallis and Futuna has the dubious distinction of being the only national rugby team to have lost three international games in one day, losing to Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia and Vanuatu on the first of December 1966 on an aggregate of 11 - 84. The team has not played since 1971 and is considered moribund.
