Wallis Evershed

Wallis Evershed (May 10, 1863 — May 8, 1911) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler who played for Derbyshire between 1882 and 1884. He was born in Stapenhill and died in Kendal.

Evershed made his first-class debut in an innings victory against Sussex in July 1882, in which the young batsman, then just 19 years old, scored 19 runs in Derbyshire's innings. Evershed made one further appearance during 1882, in a defeat against Yorkshire.

Evershed made eight appearances during County matches in 1883, comprising every County match that Derbyshire played during the season, and two appearances against Marylebone Cricket Club, scoring each of his three half-century innings during this period, including his career highest score of 92, achieved against Surrey, in which he and team-mate Edmund Maynard put on, in separate batting partnerships, over fifty percent of the innings total.

Wallis's brothers, Edward, Sydney, Frank, and cousin Geoffrey Bell were all first-class cricketers, while William Evershed also played first-class cricket in first half of the 19th century.
