Wall Of Hits was a compilation album by the British glam/hardrock group Slade. It was released November 11, 1991 and reached number 34 in the UK charts. It also included the last singles recorded by the original lineup.
"Radio Wall of Sound" was an unexpected hit, reaching the #21 spot in the UK. This was probably because the accompanying video for the single was very memorable. The follow up single "Universe" was lost in the Christmas rush and did not reach the charts.
Noddy Holder became weary of constant touring (and effectively managing the band), and left the band in late 1991 after 25 years. The remainder of the band were given time in which to consider their options. Rather than take on another singer, Jimmy Lea effectively retired too. Dave Hill and Don Powell (the band's founder members) formed Slade II with two other local musicians. The name was once again shortened to Slade after a period.
Critics were quick to notice the omissions of "We'll Bring The House Down", "Myzterious Mizster Jones" and "Still The Same" from the album, which were reasonable hits.
