Walking Concert is an indie rock band from New York, featuring Walter Schreifels on vocals and guitar; Jeffery E. Johnson on guitar; Ryan Stratton on bass guitar; and Drew Thomas on drums.

The band takes its name from the line "Boy, you're gonna be a Walking Concert!", spoken by a music store clerk to Ralph Macchio's character in the 1986 film, Crossroads.

[edit] History

The band formed in 2003 after the dissolution of Schreifels' previous band, Rival Schools. Stepping away from his hardcore/post-hardcore heritage, Schreifels' went for a more mellow pop sound with Walking Concert - reminiscent of such indie mainstays as The Flaming Lips.

Their debut album, Run to Be Born, was released on September 7th 2004 on Schreifels' own label, Some Records. It received high praise; All Music Guide's 4½-star review exalted the album as "lean, exciting, heartfelt, and intelligent." [1]

The band toured over the next year [2] and a second album is expected for some time in 2007.
