Walk percentage (BBP) is another common statistic in baseball and also quite easy to understand and easy to compute.
The primary purpose for this offensive measurement is to gauge the percentage of a batter's appearance at the plate that directly result in the player being walked. Newer than batting average but effective to use and understand for determining hitters that are perhaps more respected or simply have a better discipline at the plate.
