Walden Belfiore, played by Frank John Hughes, is a fictional character in the HBO original series The Sopranos. He was a soldier in the Gervasi crew of the DiMeo Crime Family, and thus an assumed soldier in the Gaultieri crew, which succeeded Gervasi's.
[edit] Biography
Walden Belfiore was named after singer Bobby Darin, born Walden Robert Cassotto. He is a soldier in the Gervasi crew of the DiMeo crime family. He was first seen accompanying Carlo Gervasi to a meeting at the Bada Bing and also visited Tony Soprano following the death of Christopher Moltisanti, going to great pains to reassure the others of Gervasi's imminent arrival. Belfiore is also the maiden name of Angie Bonpensiero (as mentioned by Janice Soprano in a season 2 episode), so Walden could possibly be a relative of hers although there is no actual evidence to suggest so.
Walden was also a bodyguard for Tony Soprano at the safe-house when Tony goes into hiding after the death of Bobby Bacala and the incapacitation of Silvio Dante. In the final episode of the series, Belfiore executes the rival family's boss Phil Leotardo at a gas station with a 9mm slug to Phil's head and chest before making a quick getaway with Benny Fazio in a Chrysler 300. The Leotardo murder was the 92nd and final on-screen death to occur during the series. It was also the only murder committed on-screen by this character.
[edit] Murders Committed by Belfiore
- Phil Leotardo: Executed at gas station on orders from Tony Soprano in retaliation for the murder of Bobby Baccalieri and the attempted murder of Silvio Dante. Belfiore shot Phil once in the head, then in the abdomen. Phil's head was then subsequently crushed by his wife's rolling out-of-control Ford Expedition. (2007)
