[edit] History
Before WALV moved to 104.9, the station was at 95.3, and called Alive 95. 95.3 is the current location for the Chattanooga affiliate of Jack FM. Before becoming Alive 105, 104.9 was AC Lite Rock 104.9 WDNT, a call sign that the station shared its AM located at 1280. Before Becoming Lite Rock 104.9 the station played a mix of Oldies from the 50's, 60's,70's, and early 80's, under the moniker Oldies 104.9. Before the station started playing oldies in October 2000, the station played country music under the call sign WDNT-FM and was actually based in Dayton. The WDNT Oldies station was programmed by Max Hackett, a longtime talk show host in the market.
In December of 2007, WALV-FM's main broadcast studio was moved from to Chattanooga, TN with sister stations WJTT-FM and WMPZ-FM. Sister station WHJK-FM was also moved into the Chattanooga building at this time. The new studio location is 1305 Carter Street in Downtown Chattanooga.
According to the FCC's website, an application to the Commission has been filed for a tower move which would move the transmitter and antenna for WALV from its' current location on Lone Mountain in Dayton, TN to a new site in Lakesite, TN. This license modification will also include a frequency move from the current 104.9 mhz to a new location of 105.1 mhz due to transmitter power output increases and geographical changes in the transmitting antenna's location.
