License tagging for Image:20060325 pol04.jpeg

Thanks for uploading Image:20060325 pol04.jpeg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:05, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Nazca Lines Pic

Thanks for the pic. I tweaked your edit a bit, just changed the formatting so that the pictures weren't bunched together. I liked your pic. It looked more "archaeological", so I put it as the opener.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Myfatherscountry.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Myfatherscountry.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Descendall 21:08, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Myfatherscountry.JPG

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Myfatherscountry.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Descendall 22:35, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey iu!

Thanks for uploading Image:Staticgalaxy.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under GNU but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{CC}} or Template:Shit, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.--WalterHumala 01:10, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Age of empires!!!!!!!. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.

Faiir-use images in userboxes

Hi Walter, Please read Wikipedia's fair use criteria, particularly item number 9. Fair use images, such as screenshots of video games, images of box covers, logos, and the like, are not permitted for use in template or use space. Thanks. — TKD::Talk 04:33, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

That's the way it is. In userboxes, images serve merely a decorative purpose (rather than an essential one, such conveying innformation in an encyclopedia article). Therefore, images without suitable free use licenses cannot be used in templates or userspace because their use is definitely not fair use and doesn't provide any encyclopedic benefit. — TKD::Talk 04:45, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
No problem. You're not the first the first one to make the mistake. Maybe we should explain that in the template. — TKD::Talk 04:58, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

THE WIKIPEDA IRC SPAM PROJECT IS RECRUITING NOW

WHY ME
Your recent request to use VandalProof software has been refused as you have too few edits to the English Wikipedia.
We need editors to look through recently edited pages and decide whether the links are spam or not.
If the link qualifies as spam, you will need to revert the page to remove the link and warn the 'spammer'.
This will increase your edit count and allow the VandalProof team to approve you in future !
In fact, the Wikipedia IRC Spam Project shares many VandalProof administrators and users.
HOW TO JOIN

  • 1. Install an IRC client.
(ChatZilla, IceChat and X-Chat are free. X-Chat works on all platforms) - a full list is available here.
  • 2. Visit irc://irc.freenode.net/wikipedia-spam
This channel lists, in real time, all external links added to Wikipedia.
Around 50% of the links listed are suspicious and need to be checked.
We flag especially suspicious links in RED.
  • 3. Begin Checking Links
Click on any diff (the Wikipedia URL) listed in the IRC channel to begin checking and reverting as necessary.
    If you revert, remember to place a spam warning {{subst:spam1}} → {{subst:spam4}}
We need to be able to block persistent spammers just as we do persistent vandals.
  • Remember - If you need help or admin intervention visit irc://irc.freenode.net/wikipedia-spam-t

POLICY Before you begin, please read WP:EL and WP:SPAM. These polices are the basis of spam fighting.

Best Wishes - The Wikipedia IRC Spam Project Team

Image:LA GALAXY222.gif listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:LA GALAXY222.gif, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in its not being deleted. Thank you. —Nv8200p talk 14:05, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Since EarMaster Pro can't decide which product it is talking about, I concluded it was nonsense

Welcome to Wikipedia! We could really use your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as EarMaster Pro) are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. If you want to test things out, edit the sandbox instead. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. -Will Pittenger 08:19, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

EarMaster Software

Hello, Walter Humala, and welcome to Wikipedia. An article you recently created, EarMaster Software, has been tagged for speedy deletion because its content is clearly written to promote a company, product, or service. This article may have been deleted by the time you see this message. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising service. Thank you. At least it looks like an advert page. If you did not intend to spam, please rewrite the page. -Will Pittenger 08:40, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

I only added the articles because it was not clear why they were there. They looked like spam at the time because it was as though one was a copy of a Windows article (probably Windows XP). It might have been a good idea to save it on your machine until you had it converted to whatever. Will (Talk - contribs) 20:44, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

No images in signatures!

Bot

I just got in an adventure, I created a new user, not to be a sock puppet but a Bot, and I wanted to make it a parody from a famous wikipedian Bot: AntiVandalBot, wel the name I used on this new bot was AntiAdminBot. Don't u think this is such a great name? However after a minute i created it a royal admin blocked it. I'll cut off his head soon. --Walter Humala - Emperor of West Wikipedia |wanna Talk? 02:41, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Emperor User:Walter Humala

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia by creating the page Emperor User:Walter Humala. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Blocked

You have been blocked indefinitely for editing Wikipedia for disruption and a physical threat (diff). --Ginkgo100 talk 03:03, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

I have accepted this user's plea that the "vandal bot" was a parody and the "threat" was a joke. I changed the block to a 24-hour block, which will expire about 13 hours from now, based on issues of apparent vandalism [1].

Request handled by: Ginkgo100 talk 14:58, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Emperors used to send his enemies here.

Yeah I forgot I have added the phrase: "I'll cut off his head soon", well not really, the reason for typing this was that I've started my emperor style userpage, so I am now using emperor related expressions, u know, "cut off his head" is sth that an emperor usually says, not a really attempt to cut sb's head on real life. Please don't ban me. --Walter Humala - Emperor of West Wikipedia 05:01, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Adoption Template

Hi Walter - when you have been welcoming new users and suggestion they use the WP:ADOPT you have been putting a template on their page that suggests that they want to become "ADOPTERS" e.g. User:Billmurray6 and User:Camelcast. This making the Adopt-a-user categories inaccurate - please sort out ASAP. Cheers Lethaniol 15:59, 15 December 2006 (UTC) P.S. I will remove the userboxes from people's pages.

Also you may want to change your approach, e.g. this is not a positive response [2], go easy on the noobs, and contact those that are actively looking for adopter Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user Cheers Lethaniol 16:12, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank you, Lethaniol. It may not have been a "positive response", but I'm sure I got the message across. I should also say that messing around with my talk page isn't very "positive" either, especially as the change you made makes my reply essentially meaningless. No offence.

Adoption

Hi there; As someone who has a very limited number of edits, and most of those to your own userspace, do you not think that it might be better if you to cease to ask new editors to be adopted by you? You have very limited experience in WP:NAMESPACE, for example, and adoptees are entitled to expect answers to questions which, given your amount of experience, you may not be able to give.--Anthony.bradbury 23:14, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Images

You've been asked by another user to adhere to WP:SIG#Images, which says Images of any kind should not be used in signatures. You haven't yet stopped including images in your signature. Please stop. Thank you. Wodup 08:00, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Please do not alter my signature and timestamp again to include an image in my signature. Wodup 05:09, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Your comment on Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Battle of Hong Kong

May I ask what you meant by "I'll tell some users to support ur image"? If you are planning to ask other users to support the image, that is considered canvassing and is very strongly discouraged. Raven4x4x 08:58, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Self-corrected vandalism and fair use images in userspace (again)

Walter, you've already been told once (see User talk:Walter Humala#Faiir-use images in userboxes) that fair use images aren't appropriate for userspace - yet I just removed fair use images from your user page and User:Walter Humala/Emperorbox template. Please use only appropriate images in your userspace from now on. If you want to know what the status of an image is, you can click on it, and it'll tell you.
Also, redirecting Math beauty to George W. Bush is considered vandalism - even if you made a more appropriate redirect a minute later. This is not your first warning for either of these things. Please try to contribute constructively from now on. Picaroon 04:50, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
