[edit] Welcome

Hello Walkingeagles, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! I noticed you just made a comment on a VFD page. Participation in the community is encouraged, of course, but your status as a brand new user means that your vote might not be counted if the administrator that tallies the votes believes that you might be another user logged in under a second account (a so-called "sock puppet"). Please understand that this is a common practice on Wikipedia, and that it is necessary to prevent deliberate "loading" of our votes.

[edit] Islamofascism

Howdy Walkingeagles,

I like your edits to Islamofascism. Please be aware that there are several leftists/Islamists/Useful Idiots who are constantly trying to worsify the article on Islamofascism. Most of these people have also voted to delete the article on its VfD page, making a questions about these people's comitment to the existance of a good article questionable. I hope you don't get discouraged by their immature actions, because it is somewhat sad that people can so commited to defending the indefensable.

I've moved a previous good version to User:Klonimus/Islamofascism . I invite all people commited to creating an NPOV and encyclopaedic article to asist. The Current VfD on Islamofascism, could go between Keep or merge/Redirect, with merge being the most likely outcome. Ideally assuming that is not a protect redirect. It is hoped that a worthy article can be developed in an enviroment favorable to organic growth.

  • Yes the stuff you are seeing is part of a campagn to worsify the article. I'm very sorry that you had to step into a really nasty edit war in your first days working on the project. Please dont let this give you a bad impression. Islam and Fascism makes some people very uncomfortable. The Mufti especially so, since is he a real islamic fascist. Klonimus 05:58, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Islamic fascism

You wrote on my Talk page: Hi Firebug, am new here and want to write this article while I'm still thinking about it. Did you see the story on CNN about Aryan Nation and al Qaeda, quite interesting. Am just putting together some research on it all and will be finished soon. Thanks. Walkingeagles 05:24, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • I understand your concerns regarding this issue, but the article that you have written so far has some concerns with regard to neutrality. It also duplicates the subject of an existing article, Islamofascism. You might want to discuss your material on the Talk page for that article. Also, keep in mind that Wikipedia has a policy stating that original research should not be used on Wikipedia. Please take this into consideration, but don't let it scare you off. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. Welcome to Wikipedia! Firebug 05:36, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. Will make sure it has no overlap with Islamofascism. I understand the concerns some have about that because it is either a new word or not a word at all! But presumably with Islamic fascism we can cover the subject matter without worrying about whether the term exists. And yes, I will gather research and make sure a good mix of sources, I assume referring to secondary sources online doesn't mean original research, it's not like I'll be interviewing Osama bin Laden or something like that. I doubt he his taking calls anyway LOL. Walkingeagles 05:43, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hi sorry for being back again so quickly but is the reason why the material I wrote about Aryan Nation that people didn't believe it or it wasn't written correctly or what? I'm a bit surprised. Walkingeagles 06:02, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • Your understanding of the sources policy is correct. It's OK to cite from books and articles. Indeed, using cites is encouraged. What is discouraged is the insertion of original theories and hypotheses. Please read the official policy for additional details. As for the deletion notice, it was posted because the nominator (Yuber) felt that it violated the Neutral Point of View policy. You have a right to discuss the issue at the relevant voting page if you feel that the article should be retained. It sometimes takes a while to get a feel for what material belongs on Wikipedia and what doesn't. Feel free to ask questions of experienced editors if you have any concerns. Firebug 06:08, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • I should add that you said "Hi sorry for being back again so quickly"! ...nonono, this is YOUR talk page, feel free to do with it as you please! We are all here to help each other, and if you want to question someone's posting on your or someone else's Talk page please do feel free to do so! They might not write back or might not even read it, but at least it's there for the duration for them or others to address if they see fit. So feel free to use your pages! I'll say it again, they are truly yours! Please enjoy your stay with us--although I'd have to say your initial experience has probably seemed less than encouraging! The image that you up-loaded (Image:Islamic fascism100.gif ) has two problems: first, it has no copyright information — could you add the relevant template please? secondly, its title bears no obvious relation to the image, and could be seen as inherently PoV. The image Image:Mufti.jpg similarly has no copyright information. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 15:39, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The title seems appropriate to me, as it is being used in the Islamic fascism article, although I don't care what the title is I must say. The image is owned by the person who created it, so it is copyrighted but fair use is appropriate. And the Mufti one is an older than copyright applies. OK? Walkingeagles 16:16, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The fact that the image is being used in that article is itself extremely debatable (see its Talk page). As for the Mufti, you might think that the image is too old to be copyrighted, but that isn't necessarily the case, and in any case you still need to place the relevant template. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:39, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

If it's older than 50 years I'm quite sure it isn't subject to copyright. If that has a specific identifier though I couldn't find it, perhaps you could put it on there if you know it or point me to where I could find it. I have responded to you on the Nick Berg one on the Islamic fascism talk page. Thanks. Walkingeagles 16:49, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image

Hi again. Just wanted to tell you that you ought to tag Image:Mufti.jpg or else it might be deleted. BrokenSegue 23:43, 11 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Logopaws.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Logopaws.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 16:17, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
