Talk:Walter Heiligenberg
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am creating this page about Walter Heiligenberg because he contributed so much to the growing and increasingly important field of neuroethology. His usage of model systems and advancement of computational and quantitative methods were groundbreaking, and still provide good examples for current research. The application of his work to sensory systems that are different from, and much more complex than, Eigenmannia or the jamming avoidance response is telling of the significance of his work.
Also, reading about his life and his work led me to believe that he was also very treasured and esteemed as a person. I appreciated many of the personal comments about his life written by close friends and colleagues despite his early death.
