[edit] 3 Kings

The history section makes it appear as though these islands were uninhabited before the French, but the article also refers to "3 Kings", which I assume are not the Kings of France... Were these islands inhabited before the French arrived, and/or who were these kings? Tuf-Kat 08:06, Feb 19, 2004 (UTC)

there is a large lacuna in your coverage of these islands and that is education. What is the education system available to these people? Must they study in the medium of French or can they study in their own native tongue and if so up to what level? Are primary and secondary schooling available to all on the islands and what about higher education? If they have to leave the islands for this I wonder what percentage never return.

[edit] Proposed WikiProject

In my ongoing efforts to try to include every country on the planet included in the scope of a WikiProject, I have proposed a new project on Polynesia at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Polynesia whose scope would include Wallis and Futuna. Any interested parties are more than welcome to add their names there, so we can see if there is enough interest to start such a project. Thank you for your attention. [edit] Proposed merger with Futuna Island, Wallis and Futuna

I oppose the merge. Wallis and Futuna is a country (for some definitions of country), and Futuna is one of several islands which comprises it. Merging them makes no sense.-gadfium 00:47, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree with Gadfium. The Futuna article is too big to merge here without overwhelming this article with unnecessary detail; it's much better to keep it separate. -- Avenue 02:29, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
  • oppose-Wallis Island has its own article. Chris 22:57, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Oppose. I agree: the other two main islands in the group have their own pages, and this is a fairly large article - we're not talking about a one-sentence stub here. Grutness...wha? 01:57, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wallis and Futuna Scouting

Can someone render "Be Prepared", the Scout Motto, into ʻUvean and Futunan? Thanks! Chris 07:04, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
