Talk:Wallis, The Duchess of Windsor/Archive 1
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Your biograqphy of Wallis is crap. She and the Duke had a daughter who is alive today, has six children and very almost a dozen grandchildren (at the last count). The daughter's life is extremely well documented both here and in the US. She is married to the great-nephew of a famous US wartime president and bears his name as her surname. Wallis herself was never a Nazi and received a presidential medal in recognition of her covert wartime work as well as her contribution to outing Nazis after 1945. The family are bringing out a biography of her in January 2004. It is full of photos of her with her family including her grandchildren, with whom she lived on and off in London, New York and elsewhere until her death in 1986 in Paris. Guy Trundle was never her lover. The slur on her character re branding her a Nazi was because she sued the Queen Mother in the High Court for harassment, defamation and slander and won massive damages in an out of court settlement. Likewise her daughter who also sued the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and others and won after, her mother's death.
- Does anyone have any references for any of this?
- She also won the Nobel Peace Prize, is being considered for sainthood, and was deputy mission commander on Apollo 13. In other words, no, there's no references for that stuff because it's crap. RussBlau 21:37, May 13, 2005 (UTC)

- I note that the first paragraph above was inserted by someone using IP 194.202.96.100, which has been used occasionally by User:VampWillow. Just to try to unannonymize [such a word?] things. Too Old 23:27, 2005 Jun 3 (UTC)
Gay Icon Project
In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 22:14, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Urban myth of a child
Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson - nee Warfield. Quite true. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor finally succeeded in producing a baby after many years of pioneering fertility treatment in the US and UK. Following several miscarriages, Wallis and her husband underwent groundbreaking medical treatment that resulted in a surrogate mother being found who successfully carried and bore their baby to full term in late December 1957. Full name Anastasia Mary Warfield-Saxe.Coburg.Gotha. Married to a great nephew of President Harry S Truman at the age of 14 (!!!) a few months before the death of her father the Duke of Windsor. Marriage solemnised at Westminster Abbey, 25 December 1971. Husband is former clinical professor of psychiatry, Columbia University medical school (circa 1983) and the couple have six children: Megan (born December 1972), David (1975), Catherine, Martha and Joseph (triplets born December 1981) and Thomas (1987). Eldest two children married 1992 and 1995, both producing steady stream of their own children.
Trumans residing in London, West Sussex, NYC, and Southern California.
- That is a lovely story, but until there is proof positive, it is just a story. Prsgoddess187 16:33, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
""lovely story"": Prsgoddess187, PROOF POSITIVE: President Harry S Truman's only daughter Margaret Truman Daniel - born on February 17, 1924 in Independence, Missouri - currently lives in New York City and is the family archivist, holding many private papers about her cousin Professor Ian C Truman and his wife Anastasia Mary. Look her up for details of this remarkable couple. Not much on the internet about them, probaly due to the many assasination attempts on their lives and the immense lengths they go to to protect their privacy - given their enormous personal wealth, hardly surprising.
- Well, first of all it would be nice to know who I am talking to. Please sign your edits. If there is not that much information on the internet, where can we go to find it? And who would be trying to assassinate them? If she was the daughter of the Duke and Duchess, she would have no succession rights to the Throne of the UK, so who are these evil masked men? Editing this page
This page is getting long. Rather than archive it, I propose: (a) removal of unsigned comments (b) removal of duplications DrKiernan 08:17, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Or we could archive it. john k 16:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
I should have expanded the above proposition to include my arguments. Against archiving: People don't look at the archive (I don't) so the same issues will be rehashed once again on the discussion page as people won't have read the archived comments. Against lengthy discussion pages: As the talk page gets longer, fewer people bother to read the comments, leading to more and more repetition of the same points. This page also suffers as the first comment is patent nonsense, which at first put me off reading any further, or taking the article itself seriously. The purpose of this page is to resolve differences, and discuss edits; I think its current shape is failing to achieve that aim effectively. DrKiernan 08:40, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
It's better to archive than to delete comments. john k 16:34, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
