A small portion of Route 21 passes through Wallington.

NOTE: This prior information MAY require some clarification, as New Jersey Route 21 currently passes through obvious sections Newark, Belleville, Nutley, Clifton, Passaic, and Paterson. All of those municipalities are in the counties of Essex and Passaic respectively. Wallington sits across the Passaic River to the east of the City of Passaic, and Wallington is also located in Bergen County. According to the maps I've looked at, Route 21 is indeed on the western bank of the Passaic River. Alan, can you clarify? --ChrisRuvolo (t) 16:59, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

I concur. The straight-line diagram from the NJDOT at this link shows that Route 21 lies exclusively on the Essex/Passaic County side of the river, and never enters Wallington or any other part of Bergen County. Curiously, the NJ 21 article states this same factoid regarding the highway entering Wallington without crossing the river, but I don't see that as justified. Alansohn 17:42, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Looking at the straight line diagram, I see it. The location is here: [1], but it is not obvious from this map. The highway never crosses the river. The odditiy is that Wallington extends to the western shore of the river. The claim is that this is due to changing the course of the river, creating land on the western shore. Need a reference for this, but it seems plausible. This map agrees: [2]. I am restoring the section. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 21:57, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
