[edit] Conflict of interest and neutrality
i dont understand, the material is neutral no one said he was the greatest person nor did any one say negative stuff. what should be done now? i have worked on several pages and created several pages abou generals and military issues.. im a homeland security major in my university and i also study military science. i put facts as they are —Preceding unsigned comment added by Topsecrete (talk • contribs) 18:52, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- You are trying to make your subject look good. This is a POV. Understandable, but Wikipedia wants everything reported. No one is perfect! This is not a criticism of you personally, but a criticism of the material which is/was overly flattering. Pretty much corrected, I think. We'll see. Don't be too concerned. If no one criticized the article, no one is reading it! That is the way Wikipedia works! :)
- BTW, you might want to sign your messages on the discussion page with four tildes back to back. I can't illustrate because it signs my name and is how I end my messages! Student7 13:11, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- i wouldnt say that its perfect. but i dont see a real conflict of interest.. any how —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.172.154.139 (talk) 19:42, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notability
I have a question regarding notability. I don't think that a Brigadier General, of itself, would be sufficient for an article. I was not convinced with the additional material that the subject was sufficiently notable for an article. The references are given in Arabic but there is no article in Arabic. Why not? The references are slim. They are also uncheckable by an English speaking editor. Sorry, but I am not impressed. Student7 11:40, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Apparently I can't withdraw my own nomination, but I would like to. I now think the article should stay. Definitely needs a lot of improvement, but I've changed my mind about the issue of notability.Student7 15:30, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] info
actualy he is higher than brigadier general, ive always heard of him refered to as general and i have found some information about him here and there and he is notable in jordan. the page needs improving and more references but it is a good page and needs some fixing. any how i will try and fix it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.22.79.251 (talk) 14:16, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Author
as author of this page i pledge to make it better and thank you sir for withdrawing objection. i have found the official site of the royal corp and im going to get references from there. and i will add it to references. also the reason there is no arabic article is simple. im american in the united states. my computer doesnt write arabic. but if some one would like to translate. they are more than welcome. any how. since every body have come to an agreement about improving and letting the srticle stay. what should be done next? as in as far as wikipedia goes what happens next
- Alas, the nomination still holds. You can improve the article, if you wish during the review process. A little about his early life is needed - when he was born, that sort of thing. There is usually a personal section at the end which contains marriage and children. Not sure his brothers are relevant. If picture is merely a "photo op" with king, it should probably be replaced. I doubt that he was really buddies with the King as the picture suggests. Also, events where he was not a key member, but just along for the ride, should probably be eliminated. That would help to emphasize his role when he was a key player. You need some help with English grammar, spelling and capitalization. Or you can wait for help from other editors. [edit] Dates, ranks
One of the things that is conspicuously missing is dates when anything took place, including his birth, date of retirement, year of promotion, etc. Ranks are missing as well. We don't need each rank, but promotion to Major is critical ("senior officer") and all promotions to general. Article is vague about exactly what his rank is. Brigadier? Major General? Lt General? Full General? If he became full general, he had to have been promoted one at a time. Student7 01:36, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- thank you. im still working on that. ive emailed thw maintenance corps for information. because iam under the impression of him bieng a brigadierl. and i have information that say that he was promoted to major general as he retired. and i know for a fact that he became commander of the unit in 1992 . im not exactly sure about retireent.. i think it was 1996. but im not sure. he became a general in 1990 in the gulf war era. im still waiting fro their responce. im working on the profile of 3 other generals. im building the jordanian military profile here on wikipedia. and other middle eastern powers.
the problem is you cant find everything you try to find out there in research. ive found some things.. but non of them are very reliable. thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by Topsecrete (talk • contribs) 01:46, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- Worse from the English article point of view, is the fact that the best supporting material is probably in Arabic, not really suitable for this article. Possibly consider a stepped down article in English, a larger one in Arabic (when you have a keyboard available! :). Student7 01:56, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
thats a good idea..im working on that but its still kinda wierd. like the other guy im writing about, hes a field marshal and i still cant find enough about him lol...ok i just recieved dates he was commisioned on 1992and served as director for 4 years —Preceding unsigned comment added by Topsecrete (talk • contribs) 02:16, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
