Waking the Demon is the third single from Bullet For My Valentine's second album Scream Aim Fire. The video for "Waking the Demon" was written and directed by Max Nichols, son of Academy Award-winning director Mike Nichols. It will be released in the second quarter of 2008.
The song is about getting revenge on bullies from school. Matt Tuck, lead singer and guitarist, said "'Waking the Demon' is about finding someone's inner demon. Most of us in the band got pushed around in school so the song is about getting tormented, day in and day out for years, and then one day - 'snap!' - like that!"
[edit] Music Video
The music video for Waking The Demon starts off in a American school, where a pupil is getting bullied in various ways, while the band is playing. He gets fully tormented, and sees a girl he likes kiss the bully. While various acts of bullying happen, he crosses off different dates on a calendar in his locker until he finally reaches April 28, the "Full Moon". Following the bully and the girl to the woods, he waits until the bully is alone and then smashes the bully's car. He runs off into the woods, and watches the moon come out of the clouds. He transforms into a Werewolf, his eyes flash red, and he attacks the bully. The next week, in school, there are "Missing" posters showing the bully's picture. Another bully pushes his books out of his hands, while the girl he likes hugs the bully, then looks at him, her eyes flashing red just as his eyes did when he transformed, implying she is also a werewolf (and helping him get his revenge). He nods at her and walks away smiling. In another version of this video the werewolf is covered in blood, including his mouth.
