Waking Hour (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the summer of 1993 Mike Calvert formed the progressive metal band that would one day be known as Waking Hour. After several name changes and lineup changes over the years the following members have immerged: guitarist Mike Calvert, vocalist Aaron Potter, drummer Tony Duncan, bassist Carl Larsson and keyboardist Pamela Erskine. Waking Hour feel poised to make an international impact on the world of progressive metal. Current goals include to: build a bigger fan base, tour, and someday in the future play festivals such as ProgPower USA.
Waking Hour has had the honored privilege to perform with such acts as Into Eternity, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Cellador, Kamelot, Epica, and Visions of Atlantis. On April 21st, 2007 Waking Hour released their first album, Hollow Man, after several demo releases over the years (get your copy at info@wakinghour.com).
One of the major goals for 2008 is to write new material. Although Waking Hour is inspired by prog metal and has been classified there, the band has never felt held down by that label. Influenced by metal from the 1970's through the 2000's and metal of nearly every genre, Waking Hour will continue to create music without losing the style they have chosen in the past. Progressive metal is about doing what you like and the band will always follow that philosophy.
Waking Hour has been featured on the online radio shows Audio Aggression and Stack and Di In Overdrive: especially the latter, which Waking Hour has had many interviews and frequent song play. Waking Hour's songs have also been played on: WKTF The Edge Worldwide, Dementiaradio.com, and MetalStorm radio to name a few.
Waking Hour has been reviewed by: The Music Blog, Metal Hammer Magazine (Greece) February 2007 in the “Thinking Man’s Metal Page” section, The Metal Observer webzine, and Seattle Metal Online.
